Jian Liu, Boya Distinguished Professor in the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University, has been elected to the International Academy of Quantum Molecular Science (IAQMS), one of the world’s most prestigious organizations in theoretical and computational chemistry.
Founded in 1967 in Menton, France, the IAQMS currently counts 138 elected members from all continents and includes 13 Nobel laureates among its current and past members. Professor Liu, Director of Peking University’s Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, is recognized for groundbreaking contributions to quantum dynamics and quantum statistical mechanics. His notable frameworks include constraint coordinate-momentum phase space formulations, multi-state path integral formulations, equilibrium continuity dynamics, and the nonadiabatic field approach, among others.
Professor Liu’s honors include the Chinese Chemical Society Tang Au-Qing Young Investigator Award, the Pople Medal of the Asia-Pacific Association of Theoretical and Computational Chemists (APATCC), and the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He was also elected to the Scientific Board of APATCC in 2025.
